Prenatal Education - Porcupine Health Unit

Congratulations! You’re pregnant and you’ve come to the right place. You and your partner will gain knowledge and confidence while you explore the up to date world of pregnancy, labour and delivery, and what to expect after your baby is born. You can expect to learn about a variety of topics. Information is offered as a prenatal workshops or through an online course. Please follow the link or call for more information.
Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program
Program Information 1-800-461-1818
The Canada Prental Nutrition Program provides pregnant women in need with nutrition counseling, support and follow-up throughout their pregnancy. Participants will see the dietitian once a month throughout their pregnancy and will learn about healthy eating during pregnancy, breastfeeding and early infant feeding. Vouchers for milk, food and vitamin supplements are also provided to those in need. If you are interested in this program, talk to your health care provider or call the Health Unit.

Healthy Babies Healthy Children - Porcupine Health Unit
The Healthy Babies, Healthy Children program is a home visiting program for pregnant women and parents under six years of age. A public health nurse and family home visitor work closely to meet your needs. Both can provide advice and support about pregnancy and parenting over the phoen or in person. When needed they may also link families to support services in the community. Visits can be done in your home or where you feel comfortable. You can begin and end the program at any time. The program is free and completely confidential. Call to sign up for this program.
Breastfeeding Support - Porcupine Health Unit
If you are not sure if your baby is nursing well, or if he is getting enough, ask for help! The Public Health Unit has a number of resources available. These include classes, support groups and their telephone support line.
EarlyON Child and Family Centres
EarlyON Centres are a place for children up to the age of six and their parents and caregivers to take part in programs and activities together. They bring together in one location information about children's services and programs in the community. If you have questions about your child's development, or want to know how to get information or services for your child aged 0-6 in your area contact your local centre.
