Volunteers will be providing tours of the Birthing Unit on the second Wednesday and the last Thursday of every month (except statutory holidays). There are two tours during each session, one at 7:00pm and the second at 8:00pm. Registration is required to attend the tour and will be booked on a first come, first served basis. To register for a tour, call Monday-Friday between 7:30pm and 9:30pm.
Note: the potential activity of the unit may limit what is available for viewing.

In-Person Prenatal Class: provides an opportunity to meet other pregnant people and families, talk about pregnancy, birth and newborns and get answers to your questions and concerns from a public health nurse including labour and birth, comfort techniques, medical procedures, breastfeeding, newborns, after baby comes, and community services. Online Prenatal Class: choose the information that interests you, learn at your own pace, when and where you are most comfortable - includes Pregnancy (prenatal care, prenatal tests, baby’s growth, body changes, mental health, eating and weight gain, physical activity, sex, preterm labour, alcohol, drugs and smoking safety, special considerations), Labour and Birth (labour, birth story, comfort measures, medical interventions, caesarean birth, relaxation exercises) and After Baby is Born (breastfeeding, newborns, postpartum). This 2 hour class will teach you about the benefits of breastfeeding, how to to breastfeed, how to establish good milk supply, how to know your baby is getting enough milk, and were to seek help following delivery. Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) is a voluntary program for individuals and their families in the prenatal period and families with children from birth until their transition to school. HBHC offers support in the home (assessment, teaching, referral and service coordination) for every child and parent identified needing additional support to achieve healthy pregnancy, nutrition and feeding (including breastfeeding), healthy child development, safety, adjusting to parenthood, accessing community resources, and more.

The warmline is a 24 hour telephone advice service available for new parents up to three weeks after delivery. Nursing staff are available to provide health teaching and post delivery information.
